David Stanley is an American speaker, best-selling author, and independent producer.  

​

 

David E. Stanley was born in Newport News, Virginia, in 1955. After his parents divorced, he moved to Graceland at age four when his mother married Vernon Presley, Elvis's father. At 16, he worked as a personal aide bodyguard for Elvis, participating in numerous historic concerts until Elvis's tragic death in 1977. This loss inspired David to overcome his own addictions and now he is a speaker, author, and filmmaker, using his to raise awareness about prescription drug abuse through the RAESED ON Foundation.

Stanley, Elvis Presley's stepbrother, detailing the last five years of Elvis's life from the perspective of a teenage bodyguard and assistant. The book offers an intimate, often raw, look at Elvis's struggles with addiction, fame, and depression, highlighting his generosity while also revealing the harsh realities of his decline, including his reliance on prescription drugs and moments of severe physical and mental deterioration. Stanley aims to provide a more complete picture of Elvis, hoping to help others struggling with addiction.
